About Catalyst Home Services

Catalyst Home Services is a London-based plumbing and property maintenance company built on a simple idea: do the job properly, treat people fairly, and be honest about what things cost. We work with homeowners, landlords, businesses, and developers across the whole of London — and we’ve been doing it long enough to know that trust is earned job by job, not promised in a tagline.

If you’ve got a plumbing problem or a property project and you want a straight answer from a qualified team, we’re here.

WHO WE ARE

Catalyst Home Services is a family-run company. We don’t have a call centre, we don’t subcontract your job to someone you’ve never met, and we don’t charge more because your postcode is expensive. When you call us, you speak to someone who knows the business. When an engineer arrives, they’re ours — trained, qualified, and accountable.

We cover the full range of residential and commercial plumbing: repairs, drainage, installations, specialist work, and planned maintenance contracts. If it involves pipes, water, or property maintenance in London, we can help.

Our Service Areas page lists every London borough we cover — which is all of them.

OUR STORY

Every company says they started because of a passion for their trade. The honest version of our story is simpler than that.

We saw how many London residents were being let down — by contractors who didn’t show up, by quotes that ballooned once the job was underway, by companies that treated residential customers as a lower priority than big commercial contracts. We knew we could do it differently.

Catalyst was built around the kind of service we’d want if we needed a plumber ourselves: clear pricing, qualified engineers, work that’s done right the first time, and communication that doesn’t stop once the invoice is sent.

London is one of the most demanding places to run a trades business. High expectations, diverse property types (Victorian terraces, purpose-built flats, new builds, listed buildings, commercial premises), and a customer base that has genuinely seen it all. We’ve grown by meeting that standard consistently.

You can read the full version of our background on our Our Story page.

MEET THE TEAM

The engineers who come to your property are directly employed by Catalyst. They’re vetted, qualified, and trained to work on the range of systems London properties throw at them — older gravity-fed systems in Victorian houses, modern unvented cylinders in new builds, commercial pipe networks, and everything in between.

We invest in ongoing training because regulations and best practices change. An engineer who qualified ten years ago and hasn’t kept up with current standards is a liability, not an asset — and we don’t operate that way.

Meet the people behind the work on our Our Team page.

WHAT WE DO

Catalyst covers the full range of plumbing and property maintenance services. Here’s a summary — each service has its own page with full details.

Repair Services

When something goes wrong, speed matters. Our repair team handles leaks, burst pipes, failing taps, toilet faults, and water pressure problems. We carry common parts on the van, so most repairs are completed on the first visit rather than leaving you waiting for a return job.

Drainage Services

Drainage problems tend to get worse the longer they’re ignored. We clear blocked drains and toilets, carry out CCTV drain surveys, and repair sewer lines — using high-pressure jetting and camera equipment rather than guesswork.

Installation Services

Planned installations — bathrooms, water heaters, new build first-fix, pipe replacement — are where good preparation pays off. We survey the job properly, quote accurately, and complete the work to current Building Regulations standards with the documentation to prove it.

Specialist Services

Some jobs need specific qualifications and experience. Our specialist team covers commercial properties, boiler and water heater servicing, and 24/7 emergency callouts.

Annual Maintenance Contracts

For landlords, businesses, and homeowners who’d rather prevent problems than react to them, our AMC plans offer scheduled maintenance visits, priority callout response, and no surprise charges for covered faults.

OUR QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

In the UK, plumbing isn’t a single licence. Different types of work require different qualifications — and customers deserve to know their contractor holds the right ones.

At Catalyst, our engineers are qualified across the key regulated areas:

  • Unvented Hot Water Systems (Part G / G3) — Required for work on pressurised hot water cylinders. Working on these systems without the correct qualification is both illegal and dangerous.
  • Water Regulations compliance — All our plumbing work meets current Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
  • Building Regulations compliance — Notifiable work is carried out to current standards, with completion certificates provided where required.

This matters for your home insurance, for property sales, and for your own safety. Unqualified or undocumented work on regulated systems can invalidate your cover and create real problems down the line.

You can review our full credentials on our Licences & Certifications page.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Homeowners — The majority of our work is in people’s homes. We understand that having a stranger in your house to fix something that’s gone wrong is stressful enough without the engineer being late, vague about costs, or dismissive about the problem. We try to make the whole experience as straightforward as possible.

Private Landlords & Letting Agents — Rental properties have specific compliance requirements, and tenants expect prompt responses. We work with landlords across London on everything from routine repairs to full bathroom refits, and we provide the documentation landlords need for their records — invoices, photos, and compliance certificates where applicable.

Property Managers & Managing Agents — We’re experienced in the multi-site, multi-contact world of property management. We can work to agreed service level expectations, provide detailed job reports, and handle out-of-hours callouts without escalation to you unless necessary.

Commercial Clients — Restaurants, offices, retail units, healthcare premises, gyms — we’ve worked in all of them. Commercial plumbing has different demands: the work often has to happen outside trading hours, systems are under heavier use, and downtime has direct financial implications. We understand that and plan accordingly.

Developers & Self-Builders — From first-fix groundworks to final commissioning on new builds and major renovation projects, we work to programme, liaise with other trades, and keep project managers informed at every stage.

HOW A TYPICAL JOB WORKS

We try to keep things simple. Here’s the process from first contact to completed job.

  1. Get in touch — Call +44 7400 265421, use the Book a Plumber form, or reach us via Contact Us. Emergency? Our 24/7 line is always answered.
  2. We ask the right questions — A few minutes on the phone or via the form tells us what we’re dealing with. We’ll give you an honest initial assessment of the likely work and cost range.
  3. We confirm a time that suits you — No vague “we’ll be there between 8am and 6pm.” We give you a realistic arrival window and we stick to it.
  4. The engineer arrives prepared — Common parts and equipment on the van. For most standard repairs, everything needed is already there.
  5. We explain what we find — Before any work begins, the engineer tells you what’s wrong and what it’ll take to fix it. If something unexpected comes up mid-job, we get your approval before proceeding — not at the billing stage.
  6. The work is done and documented — We leave the area clean, provide a full invoice, and supply any compliance certificates or photos you need.

WHY CHOOSE CATALYST

There’s no shortage of plumbers in London. The question is which one you can actually rely on.

We don’t make promises we can’t keep. We don’t send junior engineers to jobs that need senior experience. We don’t give low quotes to win the job and make up the margin on extras. That’s not how we want to work, and it’s not what we’d want if we were the customer.

What we can tell you is that the people who book us once tend to book us again — and they recommend us to neighbours, family, and colleagues. That’s the only growth model we’ve ever needed.
